me thinks that Khaled Hosseini's "a thousand splendid suns" is better than his "the kite-runner".
I know its not the reality of many places on earth to have happy endings but happy endings that aren't so happy makes me sad.
and what makes me feel real bad is knowing how lucky i am:
having a safe home
a wonderful family
the sweetest boyfriend
the posties
education
reasonably good health
efficient transport
clean air
water when i turn the tap on
enough money to buy things i want without worrying about my next meal
knowing i can go out at in the dead of the night without being (insert verb form of crime)
and being allowed to live a life at all.
what makes me feel worse still is the knowledge that after being reminded again this time about how lucky i am, the jolt reminding me how lucky i am will soon be relegated to the back of my mind, only to be summoned in the far future when another jolt comes along.
i feel bad being able to sit here typing in my laptop in air-conditioned comfort.
that girl, on the other side of the earth, i could be her.
i hope that there are more Tariqs than Rasheeds around.
Darlie's lime-mint toothpaste tastes like tic-tacs.
